The CNE has started, the back-to-school sales are on and a few leaves
have started to change colour. That means it's time for CanadianRacer.com's
annual look at the upcoming special shows at Southern Ontario's
speedways.
As usual, there will be some tough decisions for race fans to make
as some events are running concurrently. Some of the particularly
busy days are September 2, 3 and 15.
The Labour Day
Weekend is a three-day show at Brighton
Speedway. Friday night, August 31 sees an evening of OORA
Tough Trucks, 4 Wheelers, Mini Vans and Comp 4. The Southern Ontario
Sprints are on hand on Saturday, September 1 along with four of
Brighton's regular classes: Canadian Modified, Pro Stock, Pure Stock
and Stinger. The weekend wraps up on Sunday, September 2 with an afternoon
of family events followed by racing at 6:00pm. The Southern Ontario
Sprints are back along with 35 laps for the Canadian Modified
/ IMCA Challenge, 50 laps for the Pro Stock Duel in the Dirt and the
30 lap Comp 4 Dirt Asphalt Challenge.

The Annual Applefest
358 Dirt Modified Shootout returns on September 21-22. Friday
night see the Dirt Sportsman Lucas Oil Challenge Cup and qualifiers
for Canadian Modified, Pro Stocks, Comp 4 and Pure Stocks. Racing
begins Saturday night at 6:00pm. The Applefest Dirt 358 Shootout featuring
Lucas Oil Clash for Cash is the big show. There are also features
for Canadian Modifieds, Pro Stocks, Comp 4 and Pure Stocks. Brighton
has cranked the action up a notch this year by adding the Ontario
Dirt Late Models as well.
Brighton Speedway
is a 1/3 mile clay oval located on County Road 64, just east of
the town of Brighton.

The third annual
Canadian Sprint Car Nationals return to Ohsweken
Speedway
on September 14-15. For anyone who enjoyed the World of Outaws in
July you'll love the Canadian Sprint Car Nationals. Last year there
were over 70 sprint cars in the pits and 2007 is expected to be the
same. The weekend kicks off on Friday night with the Village Pizza
Presents Ohsweken Shootout with Night Before the Nationals. The
evening features Sprint Cars and Mini Stocks. It should whet your
appetite for the Arrow Express Presents 3rd Annual Canadian Sprint
Car Nationals on Saturday night.

Ohsweken is a 1/3 mile dirt track located on Chiefswood Road, near
Ohsweken.
Brockville
Ontario Speedway
has two big shows this fall. On Saturday, September 8 it's the third
annual "Run What You Brung" for 358 Modifieds. Street
Stocks and Rookies are on the bill as well. The following week, September
15, is the BOB FM presents the Battle at the Border with the 358
Modified Super DIRT "Double DIRT Points" Series Tour.
The night includes the full card of classes. Racing for both nights
begins at 7:00pm.
Brockville is a 1/4 mile clay oval located on Highway 29, 6 miles
north of Brockville.
Cornwall
Speedway
is hosting a 100 lap 358 Modified Super DIRT Series feature
on September 2. The night also includes Semi Pros, Rookie Stocks and
a 50 lap feature for Pro Stocks.
Cornwall Speedway is a 1/4 mile clay oval located on Brookdale Avenue,
near Exit 786 off Highway 401.
Cayuga
Speedway Park
will host the Subway 200 for the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series
on September 1. The
Ontario Sportsman Series will wrap up their inaugral season
that day as well. Racing
legend Bobby Allison will be on hand to celebrate Cayuga's history.
Cayuga is a 5/8 mile paved oval located on Haldimand Road 20 near
Nelles Corners.

The Horses and
Horsepower Speedfest
at Kawartha Speedway
spans Sept 14-23. Friday, September 14 is practice for the American-Canadian
Tour Late Models. Saturday is the 200 lap Summer Sizzler plus
Thunder Cars and Mini Stocks. On Wednesday, September 19 the track
is the site of 75 lap Limited Late Model, 50 lap Thunder Car and 40
lap Mini Stock features. The
Speedfest wraps up on Sunday, September 23 with the final NASCAR
Canadian Tire Series event of 2007.
Kawartha is a 3/8
mile paved oval located on Highway 28 at Fraserville.
Barrie
Speedway has the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series on September
8 for the ATTO 300. The night also includes Barrie Late Models, Thunder
Cars and Pure Stocks.
Barrie Speedway is a 1/3 mile paved oval located on the 8th Line of
Oro-Medonte between Barrie and Orillia just off of Highway 11, 10
minutes north of Barrie
The Oktoberfest
Classic Weekend returns to Flamboro
Speedway on September 29-30. Saturday is Qualifying for OSCAAR
Super Late Model, Late Model, Limited Late Model, Thunder Car, Mini
Stock, Canadian Vintage Modified and features for Hurricane Midgets
and F4 plus the CVM All Star Clash. Sunday will see the features for
OSCAAR, LM, LLM, Thunder, Mini and CVM.
Flamboro Speedway
is a 1/3 mile paved oval located on Millgrove Road near Freelton.
Peterborough
Speedway is the place to be on Oct 5-7 for the annual Autumn
Colours Classic. The weekend features 4 Fun, Mini Stock, Thunder
Car, Late Models, Limited Late Models, OSCAAR Super Late Models, Modifieds
and Hurricane Midgets. Friday
is pre-tech and practice. Saturday is qualifying for all classes plus
the Hurricane Midget Feature. The action comes to a climax on Sunday
with features for all the rest of the classes.
Peterborough Speedway
is a 1/3 mile paved oval located on Sherbrooke Street, just west of
Peterborough.
The annual Great
Canadian Race Weekend is back at Delaware
Speedway on August 31-September 2. Friday night sees the Super
Stocks, Trucks and an Enduro All-Star race. Saturday is the Modified
Challenge Race, Cup Lites and the King of Hill Spectator races. The
APC 300 for Late Models closes out the weekend on Sunday.
The ISMA Super Modifieds roll into Delaware on Friday, September 28
for their only Canadian appearance of 2007.
Delaware Speedway
is a 1/2 mile paved oval located on Gideon Drive, east of the town
of Delaware.
South
Buxton Raceway is holding The Castrol Canadian Late Model
Shootout, "Run What Ya Brung" and full racing card on September
29.
South Buxton is a 3/8 mile dirt oval located on A.D. Shadd Road (Highway
6), just south of the town of South Buxton.
Capital City Speedway is the site of a $5000 to win, 100 lap
Late Model feature on September 8. The night also has a 100 lap Enduro,
trailer race, Four 4 Fun, Mini Stock, Thunder Car and a Monster Truck
Show.
Capital City Speedway is a 3/8 mile paved oval located on Highway
7, west of Ottawa.
