- Airfield built during the Second Word War for the Commonwealth Air Training Plan
- First event was Nov 1, 1953 with nine cars
- This was the first sports car race in Alberta
- Used for three events in 1954 - a Calgary Sports Car Club (CSCC) event on May 24 and a Winnipeg Sports Car Club event on July 1 and another CSCC event on August 15
- The May 24 event also included motorcycle races organized by the Calgary Motorcycle Racing Club and sanctioned by the Canadian Motorcycle Association
- The site was also known as Skypark Airport
