3/8 mile paved oval
Track Info:
- Built by a group of drivers who were dissatisfied with Speedway Park
- Site was originally the Jasper Place Dump
- Located Hwy 16 west - Winterburn overpass, 1 mile north
- Map location at right is approximate
- Operated by the Edmonton Area Racing Association
- Designed by Terry Cunningham
- Eric and Phil Dowler did much of the excavation for the original construction
- Ray Wild was the first General Manager
- Raced Wednesday nights in the early years
- Opened July 16, 1968
- Some sources indicate the track was originally dirt but I am unable to find any proof - appears to have been paved from day one
- The 1970 rules stated that cars between 1955 and 1970 as Super Stock and Early Lates were for 1953-1960
- Early Lates were 6 cylinder
- Final event was October 16, 1977
- Track closed due to a combination of factors - dropping car counts, fewer spectators, an increase in rent for the property and an industrial park built next to it
- When the track closed the EARA moved to now re-opened Speedway Park then called Cobra Raceway
